Moore & Sandbach flashes

Myself & Bill decided go to Moore reserve for the resident Lesser Woodpecker that has been showing well for some time. A bit of luck saw us watching the little beauty for half an hour on his favourite dead tree.It seems a long while ago since I was watching them on feeders in Biddulph. With the Pecker not taking as long to show as expected we popped into Sandbach Flashes to see what was about. Quite busy around Elworth and Pumphouse flashes with the regular showing of white winged gulls, One or two staffs lads there too. The Iceland dropped in whilst we were there but the Glauc was missing and probably feeding on the tip. A good flock of Tree Sparrows were knocking around the feeding station they had been missing through the winter. plenty of Wigeon & Teal a few Shovelers and Pintail plus the commoner ducks. Waders included Black Tailed Godwits, Lapwing, Ruff & Redshank. Not bad for a few hours birding this morning. Thought id try see if I could give Simon King a run for his money (not quite) but it is something I may try again.
