Eyebrook & Rutland Water

I picked up Bill early doors and battled our way through a bit of nasty snow. Arriving Eyebrook an hour later than expected. Plenty of duck about with big numbers of Teal, Wigeon, Tufties, Pochard & Gadwall. Luckily the bird we were hoping to see did not let us down. A male Smew was accompanied by 3 redheads looking well smart. Other birds to note were Little Egret Shelduck, Goldeneye & Goosander. Onto Rutland next unfortunately most of the reserve was blanketed in Ice. The spots that were not held all the species as at Eyebrook plus Shoveler,Bewicks Swan & Little Grebe. A few waders were knocking around Redshank, Snipe, Ruff & possibly got the Lesser Yellow Legs that is there but not a 100% so no tick there. Lets hope this cold snap ends pretty soon
