Cheshire

Saturday saw myself and Bill jumping over into Cheshire. First stop was Lapwing pool only 15 mins drive away. Luckily the Black Necked Grebe was still about although it took some finding amongst a lively bunch of waterfowl. Dabchicks, Tuftys, Pochard and Mallard made up the majority. A welcome surprise was a Kingfisher although a little distant. Frodsham was on the cards now, Its still a favourite of mine it must be the cracking views of ICI and Stanlow oil refinery. A few waders were showing on 6 tank the best being a juv Curlew Sandpiper mixed in with some summer plumaged Black Tailed Godwits. In the distance I picked out 4 waders Dunlin size my fixed lense strugling pick out detail but bills on 60x showed they were Common Sandpipers. Bill was getting a little tied now so it was back home via Sandbach Flashes very quiet unless you count the gull flock consisting of Black Heads and Lesser Black Backs.
