MEGA

With the Pied Billed Grebe not to far away I thought it would be rude to miss out on it. Bill decided go again & Gerald popped along too. We arrived at dawn with a few already unloading kit. It showed pretty close but but awful weather prevented any half decent shot with lenses covered in rain. A dam fine bird & a first for myself. We headed up the road to see if we could locate the Great White Egret but no joy there just 3 Goosanders on the Ribble. Next step was Marshside for a good variety of birds. Plenty of Pintail, Teal & Wigeon. Large flocks of Golden Plover & Black Tailed Godwits were the highlight of the wader form plus a few Ruff thrown in for good measure. A Merlin put on quite a show on the estuary side giving a crow a hard time for a few minutes. As normal a good size gathering of Pink Feet's were dotted around the area. Phone beeped with a Grey Phalarope at Lythem so a quick flit further north was in order. Cracking views were had by all as it fed in a flooded field just feet away definitely my closest encounter with them. A right good days birding in the North West
