A Few Good Birds
Again with time limited it was a flirt around local today. I met up with Bill at Rudyard, nothing to note there as per normal best bird a Snipe. A call at Heaton for Brambling was worth it as 2 males were feeding with Chaffinches. Onto Tittersworth next plenty of Teal and a few Wigeon plus common gulls and ducks. We decided go on a Dipper hunt 1 was present but only a flyby so we headed to Dane Bridge where another was more obliging. A flock of 20 Crossbills were present at Mac Forrest and Little Grebe on the lake. It was back into Staffordshire for a quick scout around N S Moors with very little showing we were about to move on when I noticed a lovely ghostly shape quartering the moors. A near adult male Hen Harrier preformed a few attacks on Red Grouse and Corvids at a confiding distance. After a few minutes it followed a gully and was lost from view, it had either landed or done a flit. Great end to a mornings session
