Gun Hill
With very limited time and low fog the only place I was going to spend an hour was Gun Hill. It was pretty lively with birds perhaps the fog had bought them down. 6 Reed Buntings were near the entrance and a single Skylark was on the path. Two snipe were flying around the hill for five minutes before dropping down out of site. The pair of Stonechats were amongst the heather calling to each other. The back end of Gun was alive with Meadow Pipits and 15 Siskins flew over in a southerly direction. A male Merlin came within 10 yards of me whilst pursuing mipits within seconds it was gone. Great Spotted Woodpecker was noted in the wood and leaving the wood I notice the Merlin had parked up some distance away. So not a bad morning up there and Merlin is a Gun tick for myself.
