I got strange call yesterday morning about a Bittern at Tittesworth. Apparently it was seen and photographed and someone had seen it on the back of the camera. Well it was certainly worth a look but on arriving no none was about. Soon as I lifted the flap in the West hide I could make out a bittern shape without the aid of optics. I was expecting a bit of a wait if it was there. It was active for 5 mins and feeding on something small but walking seemed to be an issue as it obviously had an injured leg. .After the active spell it bunkered down at the edge of the reeds allowing those arriving after me good but distant views. Well worth an hour off work.
